DupHunter Privacy Policy
Last updated:
DupHunter is provided under the Teorex name ("we", "us", or "our"). This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit duphunter.com, download, install, purchase, or use DupHunter, or contact us. For privacy questions, contact [email protected].
Your files and photos
DupHunter scans and compares files and folders, analyzes similar images, reads photo metadata, and creates previews locally on your computer. Your files and photos are not uploaded to us for these operations. License checks and the technical requests described below are separate from this local file processing.
What information we collect
- Orders: PayPro Global provides us with your name, email address, and purchased product so we can issue or renew your license. We store these details with the purchase date and license record. Where applicable, a subscription reference is associated with the license. If you use a renewal link containing your license serial number, that number is passed to checkout to identify the license being renewed.
- License checks: when DupHunter activates or checks a license, it sends the license key, a device identifier, the application name and version, and the operating system type and version to our licensing service. The service also receives the connection's IP address. Activation records associate the device identifier and operating system with the license and activation date. We use this information to validate licenses, apply activation limits, and resolve licensing issues.
- Windows installer events: some Windows installers send installation, uninstallation, or download-error events to our service. These can include the product name, version when supplied, error details, and the download URL. The service records the request's IP address and user-agent information to help us understand installation activity and diagnose failures. These events do not upload the files or photos you scan with DupHunter.
- Support and feedback: when you contact us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to send, such as your DupHunter version, operating system, problem description, screenshots, or diagnostic details. Such material can contain file names, paths, or other personal information you include.
- Website visits: our hosting and content delivery providers may process technical information such as your IP address, browser information, requested pages, and request times to deliver and protect the website. We also use website analytics as described below.
Payments
PayPro Global is a separate company that operates the checkout. Payments and payment card information are processed by PayPro Global and its payment providers. We do not process payments or collect or store your payment card details. The order and license records described above are separate from payment card information. See PayPro Global's privacy policy and its customer data protection information for details about checkout data.
Website analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use duphunter.com and improve the website. This includes information about pages visited, referral sources, browser and device type, approximate location, cookie identifiers, and interactions such as download clicks. When analytics runs, your browser sends information to Google, including the page URL and IP address. This website analytics is separate from local scanning of your files and photos.
Google Analytics uses first-party cookies such as _ga and
_ga_JFQWP31Q43 to distinguish visitors and sessions. Google's default expiration for
these cookies is two years, although browser limits and analytics settings can shorten this.
See Google's cookie documentation.
You can manage or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking cookies alone does not necessarily stop requests to Google. To prevent your visit data from being used by Google Analytics in supported browsers, you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
How we use information
- Issue and recover licenses, process renewals, and validate activations.
- Answer questions, provide support, and respond to feedback.
- Understand website and installation activity and diagnose technical problems.
- Protect our services against abuse and meet applicable legal obligations.
If you opt in to product or marketing emails, you can unsubscribe using the instructions in those emails or by contacting us. Purchase, license, and support messages may still be needed to provide the services you request.
Legal grounds for processing
Where applicable data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of a contract to provide the software license and services you request, and compliance with legal obligations for records that must be kept by law. Our legitimate interests include securing our services, preventing license abuse, answering inquiries, and diagnosing installation problems. For marketing communications where consent is required, consent is the applicable basis. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent where processing relies on it.
Who receives information
- PayPro Global and its payment providers handle checkout and payments.
- Google receives information through Google Analytics as described above.
- Cloudflare and our infrastructure providers deliver and protect our services and process licensing requests and installer events. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- jsDelivr delivers the website's interface scripts and styles. Your browser connects to its content delivery service to load these resources. See jsDelivr's privacy policy.
- Email service providers handle messages when you contact us.
Information may also be disclosed when required by applicable law or necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. Providers' own policies describe their handling of information; those policies do not replace our responsibility for the information we control.
International processing
Our providers operate internationally, so information may be processed outside your country. The location and protections depend on the provider and service involved. Contact us for details about the transfers and safeguards relevant to information we control. For information collected directly by PayPro Global or Google, see their linked privacy information.
How long information is kept
Retention depends on the purpose and type of record. Order, license, and activation records support license delivery, recovery, renewals, activation checks, and purchase inquiries. Support correspondence is needed to resolve requests and follow-up issues. Technical records support troubleshooting and service security. Applicable accounting requirements, legal claims, and provider retention settings can affect how long records are kept. Contact us to ask about the retention or deletion of your records.
Providing information
You can browse the website without purchasing a license or contacting us. The checkout provider requires information to complete a purchase, and our licensing service needs the license key and device information to validate activation. Without the information needed for these services, we may be unable to deliver or validate a license or resolve a support request.
Your choices and privacy requests
Depending on applicable law, you may request access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, or a portable copy of eligible data. You may also object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent for processing based on consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing.
Send requests to [email protected]. We may need information to verify that the request concerns your records. Some records may need to be retained to meet legal obligations or resolve legal claims. For checkout records controlled by PayPro Global, contact PayPro Global directly.
You may also complain to your local data protection authority. In the European Economic Area, you can contact the authority in the country where you live or work; see the EDPB authority directory. In the United Kingdom, you can contact the Information Commissioner's Office.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services or practices change. The current version will be published on this page with an updated date. Where applicable law requires additional notice or consent for a change, we will provide it.
